Irish Design Week 2025 is a flagship initiative of the Design & Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI) with the aim of supporting designers and makers to develop their sustainably while championing the societal benefits of creativity. This inspiring event in Tipperary is an amazing example — celebrating innovation, community and the power of expression.
Renowned composer Alastair White and Tipperary-born curator Gemma A. Williams are reimagining James Joyce’s Finnegans Wake as a brand-new opera — live, experimental and evolving. Visitors can step into the open studio residency, explore interactive workshops, listen to creative talks, and watch this boundary-pushing collaboration unfold in real time.
White, praised by BBC Radio 3 for creating “a whole new exciting genre of art,” and Williams, a leading voice in international fashion curation, have joined forces to launch FINNEGANS WAKE 100 — an ambitious creative series leading up to the novel’s 2039 centenary.

“It’s thrilling to bring this creative energy home to Cloughjordan,” says Williams. “We want to inspire conversation and imagination right here in Tipperary.”
This event perfectly embodies the spirit of Irish Design Week — where design meets performance and imagination takes centre stage.
