Arigna Mines are homed in the Arigna Valley. The mines were closed down in 1990 as a work place and re-opened as a historic attraction in 2003.

The preservation of energy was the heart of the idea to the re-opening of the valley. The energy centre offers a unique experience to uncovering the life of the miners back in the 17th century.

The Mining Experience begins underground - straight into the action!

The 45-minute underground tour offers visitors a chance to experience working in some of the narrowest coal seams in the western world. Led by an experienced ex-miner, take in the repetition of dripping water, extreme darkness and chilling temperatures - a powerful insight into their harsh working conditions. Coal extraction methods are demonstrated with lighting and captivating sound effects adding to the authentic task.
