Full Description
The tour begins with a stop in the peaceful Inagh Valley, where calm lakes and mountain views offer a quiet moment to take in the landscape. You'll then have around two hours to explore Kylemore Abbey — including the castle, Victorian Walled Gardens, and lakeside grounds. Entry is not included but is offered at a discounted rate, payable in cash to the driver.
In the afternoon, the route continues north to Killary Harbour, Ireland’s only fjord. Surrounded by hills and open water, it's a striking setting that captures the natural beauty of the west coast. This tour is ideal for those looking to see a different side of the region, away from the usual stops.
Travel through the lesser-known valleys of north Connemara, known as Joyce Country, once home to an old Irish clan. Stop at the shores of Lough Nafooey, a quiet glacial lake set among hills shaped by ancient volcanic activity — a peaceful spot with a unique geological past.
The final stop is Cong Village, where you can explore Cong Woods, visit the 12th-century ruins of Cong Abbey, or enjoy a walk by the shores of Lough Corrib. With time to take in local history or simply relax in the village made famous by The Quiet Man, the tour wraps up with a scenic drive back to Galway along the lake’s eastern edge, arriving by around 6:00 PM.
