The Limerick Greenway stretches 40km along a section of the historic Limerick-Tralee railway line, offering an off-road walking and cycling route that links the charming market towns of Rathkeale, Newcastle West, and Abbeyfeale in West Limerick.

The town of Abbeyfeale takes its name from the Irish Mainistir na Féile, meaning "Abbey of the Feale." Known as a vibrant spot rich in history and heritage, Abbeyfeale is located in the southern part of County Limerick, near the border with County Kerry. For a recommended route, try Abbeyfeale to Templeglantine: a 9km (1-hour) off-road cycle or walk along the Greenway. The trail is waymarked with the Greenway symbol and white directional arrows, suitable for those with moderate fitness.

Rathkeale, another significant town, was a key stop on the historic Limerick-Tralee railway line. Its original 1867 railway station still stands today, having been carefully relocated stone by stone to make way for modern road development, preserving an important piece of Limerick’s heritage. Spin around and uncover the beautiful culture that exists in this area.
