Itinerary

Stop 1 – Pat’s Bar: A Toast to Tradition

The tour begins at Pat’s Bar, often hailed as one of the cosiest pubs in Ireland. Steeped in character, this spot is known not only for its warm wooden interiors and roaring turf fire, but also for its claim to fame—a classic Guinness advert filmed here, with Westport locals cast as extras.

Guests are invited to sample Potion, a traditional Irish moonshine that offers a rare taste of times gone by. Sipping this distinctive spirit by the fire offers a glimpse into authentic Irish pub life—simple, welcoming, and rich in atmosphere.

Stop 2 – The Porter House: Music, Myths & Mescan Beer

The journey continues through the historic heart of Westport, with stories, legends, and local lore woven into the walk. The Porter House, officially crowned Ireland’s Best Music Pub and a beloved institution in the town’s vibrant cultural scene.

Famed for its lively sessions, The Porter House is where traditional Irish music truly comes alive. Guests are immersed in the sounds of fiddles, bodhráns, and spirited reels also known as an authentic soundtrack to the Irish pub experience.

Here, the evening takes a flavourful turn with a tasting of Mescan craft beer, brewed at the foot of Croagh Patrick using traditional Belgian methods. Whether it’s a smooth, full-bodied stout or a crisp, golden ale, this locally brewed beer.

Stop 3 – The Old Grain Store: A Whiskey Lover’s Haven

Next, the tour leads to The Old Grain Store, a much-loved Westport favourite within a beautifully restored stone building. Known for its warm, welcoming atmosphere and extensive whiskey selection, this historic pub is a true delight for both connoisseurs and curious newcomers alike.

Get introduced to Connacht Distillery’s Fine Irish Whiskey, the first whiskey to be distilled in County Mayo in over 150 years.

Not a whiskey expert? No problem. Your knowledgeable guides will walk guests through the tasting, highlighting the aromas and flavours that define this iconic Irish spirit. It’s a toast to history, craftsmanship, and the joy of a perfectly poured dram.
